Thank you so much, dear Mandy! I love this question: "I’d also have liked a bit more on the passage of the gorgeous bracelet from the West Coast of Africa in the 1400s to contemporary Berlin—what happened to it in the 16th and 17th centuries?" In part this was a deliberate omission... 1/2

Postu gösterI’m thrilled for the fantastic writer Shida Bazyar on winning the German Book Prize tonight. Very exciting for @dances-with-voles.bsky.social too, her English translator. Her acceptance speech was amazing, about antisemitism and racism and how every minority in the country is scared right now…
