    Whoever decided the background of the internet should be bright white was kind of an asshole, if only because displaying full brightness on basically every display we have ever produced wears the display more than not doing that, except LCDs I guess.

    To be clear, I don't mean page contents, but rather the default background that every html file has, as defined by browsers. The implicit full white is just kind of a bad default, and it feels like it's something we carried over from the idea that paper is white and the internet should be paper.
