  Right now, the focus is on monitoring passengers, isolating anyone with symptoms, and providing supportive care. There is no specific treatment or vaccine, but early medical care, especially in an ICU, can improve survival. Overall, this is still considered a low risk to the general public.

  passengers who were on that flight with the infected person, which is standard whenever there’s a serious infectious disease. Now, we may see a few additional cases, especially among close contacts, but widespread transmission is not expected.

  If you have been around rodents and have symptoms of fever, deep muscle aches, and severe shortness of breath, see your doctor immediately. Be sure to tell your doctor that you have been around rodents: this will alert your physician to look closely for any rodent-carried disease such as hantavirus.
