Postu gösterIt shows a person with an open mouth, and that is the meaning through which one can understand most frequent characters with 欠, like 歌 song，欢 call，吹 blow，欣 enjoy，盗 steal (spit) or 饮 drink. The meaning "lack" does not help understand those characters at all.
