    so thanks you haley stevens, for making anti-arab racism and islamophobia in the party - as well as unflinching support of israel no matter what it does - a much more publicly toxic stance to take by being your true self: a self-centered bigoted loser who constantly demands attention

    the 'will not shut up' part is important. gillibrand said some truly awful shit talking about mamdani and 'jihad', but she is not 24/7 blasting out what a bigot she is. so it's easier to sweep under the rug and let weak memories do the work. stevens will not shut up. so it doesn't go away.

    anti-arab racism and islamophobia has long been a 'free action' in the party, one that electeds have been glad to indulge in and dem juche types have made endless excuses and rationalizations for. stevens going nuke mode over this makes it so the bigotry is now seen as allying with this loser.

    nice thing about stevens going off the deep end is 1. it forces the matter of islamophobia and anti-arab racism among the dems into the open, unable to be ignored 2. it attaches it to someone who is deeply unlikeable & unpleasant and 3. crucially, will not shut up, so forgetting about it is harder
