I do believe a lot of people had good intentions but lbr - if this was fan art, absolutely everyone would be screaming that it's rude to reupload uwu Fanfic authors just wanted the same respect given to every fan artist under the sun, and a lot of people started mocking them The hell??

Yeah like fanfic writers already don’t get nearly the same love and appreciation that artists and other fanwork creators do, and now it’s gone from not only that to also just blatant disrespect. Writers do not get the love they deserve for being the backbone of many fandom spaces! 😭

i was talking to some people on the ao3 subreddits (very toxic, would not recommend) and i came to the realization that a lot of people who read fic and thus follow the sub don't... participate in fandom? like at all? like they read ao3 and that's it
