    The reaction to Shabana Mahmood's immigration 'reforms' shows exactly why this is such a dead-end for a Labour government. Lambasted by the right-wing press, hated by the left and ruinous for all those people actually affected by them. Pleasing nobody, whilst making everything worse

    Mahmood on Today Programme is car crash. It’s so obvious her policy and arguments are incoherent. Not good enough for the right and not good enough for the left. A failure for the economy/British conditions. Out of line with new govt. direction. Horrible and offensive to migrants.

    It does follow the appaulling British press narrative however. Heaven forbid addressing any of the REAL drains on society or the colossal crisis thundering down the tunnel behind us. Honestly I could weep. Or join a seastead (although I heard Thiel is a fan and that puts me right off.)
