  This year's #kakapo breeding season has been the biggest on record: - 256 eggs (252 in 2019) - 148 fertile eggs (116 in 2019) - 105 eggs hatched (86 in 2019). It'll be 2+ months until we know how many chicks will fledge (73 in 2019). There are currently 95 alive. #conservation #kakapo2026 #birds

  There have definitely been times when I'm in the field, hearing a bird I don't recognize, and praying it keeps vocalizing as I click through the Merlin app to get a recording going. Birds don't always sing repeatedly, saving a second or two could be critical.

  Old phone made me click 4 times to open Merlin and get a sound recording going Downloaded a shortcut maker on my new phone (to replace Duolingo's constantly updating icon with a stable one) and wrote a shortcut to Merlin. Now my #TenMinMerlin only takes one click! It's the little things

  My church had "balloon release" on the schedule for Sunday morning (a "release your fears and anxiety to God" sort of thing and I threw a fit and they had to say "SK, you know us, we wouldn't release balloons outside, they're going in the sanctuary"
