It'd be interesting to know how much alcohol actually get sold. My experience from LCFC WSL games (obviously pre trial) is that it's a very family friendly atmosphere and so while people might nurse a pint etc, it's not really a place to rack up the drinks.

This is the representation British-Asians have been craving. Feeling emotional but in a good way x

It's also worth highlighting a downside of earned early release approach. While there are a lot of benefits, it introduces new opportunities for bias in the system. Racial bias is one risk, but also people who are more literate or just good at navigating the complex prison system etc will do better.

BUT there are some issues here. Early release would be earned through eg attending rehabilitative courses, education etc in prison. But these are already massively oversubscribed. How can prisoners demonstrate good behaviour in their cells 20+ hours a day?

Strengthening alternatives to prison sentences is crucial and the right place to start. More options for community sentences, investment in drug and alcohol treatment for offenders, encouraging more deferred and suspended sentences all welcome steps that evidence suggests will reduce reoffending.
