If you saw my posts on firing our ‘medieval’ kiln this week, you might like to see the results. All are exact copies of original medieval tiles, made as authentically as possible from clays dug on the same site as the kiln, and using hand-carved wooden blocks. Aren’t they beautiful?

Thanks Marina! Right, measurements are quite laborious. But the good news: incidence can be determined alongside mycorrhizal colonization. You just score one more structure in each intersect. So we added it to our default set of traits now.

Fine roots aren't as fine as it gets when it comes to do-it-yourself resource uptake by plants and absorptive surface required. nph.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/... New paper open @newphyt.bsky.social

Back to Lawrence, Kansas to visit @invam.bsky.social and finish seed collections for an experiment to compare native versus introduced plant population mycorrhizal growth response!!🤓🌱🇺🇸🇳🇱

New paper out in @jevbio.bsky.social ! We show that adaptation that likely evolved in response to postglacial warming in rear-edge populations could improve the resilience of these populations to future warming, especially compared to populations in the rest of the range. doi.org/10.1093/jeb/...
