Postu gösterThis is why the Russian threat is so real: it is not a rational actor. Superiority alone is not a deterrent if your enemy is willing to sacrifice city-sized numbers for negative gains. Yes the answer is diplomatic, but we urgently need real negociators and real creative ideas.

Postu gösterThanks Rob - I read this & it was most thought provoking. Given the discourse amongst popular mathematicians (e.g. Terry Tao, Grant Sanderson, Steven Strogatz), it seems they are quite convinced these "AI" are making independent math discoveries, not just cribbing inchoate work...
Postu gösterMy heart is heavy. Walter Koenig, our Ensign Pavel Chekov, passed away early today. Walter and I met on the bridge of the Enterprise in the 1960s, and we stayed friends for nearly six decades. When Brad and I married in 2008, Walter stood beside us as our best man.
