MJ and Lebron. Russell's offensive output is the only thing that keeps him out of that top tier for me. It's difficult for the subjective part of my brain which loves Russell and doesn't particularly care for MJ or Lebron. FWIW, the last time I did a ranking, I did actually have Russell 4th.

Kareem one 6 MVPs and was short-changed. I love Cowens, but in 73 Kareem led the Bucks to 60 wins while averaging 30 and 16. I have my own way of ranking players, but basically I use tiers. Totality of career, peak, awards, titles - Kareem is in my 3 person top tier.

There are a lot of guys who have that problem to varying degrees. Folks that only caught the tail end of Kareem's career don't understand why he's as highly thought of. Those who only caught DJ with the Celtics missed the Sonics and Suns DJ who was finishing in the top 10 for MVP votes.
