    Just learned that librarian Katharine "Kat" Kan, who helped usher comics into the mainstream in school and public libraries, died recently after a brief illness. She worked in libraries in Indiana and Florida, long wrote for VOYA, and also worked as a selector for Brodart.

    Oh terribly sad. I corresponded with Kat for over 20 years and she was a regular Beat commenter. I know she was so dedicated to both libraries and comics. A big loss.
