    As long as curation is a problem, people will be looking for venues to stand out, which is always a moving target. In retrospect, demos having a moment again might feel downstream of Covid lockdowns, and soon we’ll be touring exclusive demos at cons and fests again.

    maybe this means we eventually go back to people making free games and gradually building up audiences towards a bigger commercial release like in the indie 1.0 days, i don't know. obviously that doesn't work for people trying to run studios, but i'm not sure the status quo is working much either.
