    No. The point isn't that the UK stopped the EU. The point is that it repeatedly tried to slow, dilute or frustrate efforts to build greater European strategic autonomy in favour of NATO and Anglo-American structures.

    Because British domestic politics has a habit of dragging Europe into its own psychodrama. Farage is already weaponising this incident as part of another immigration campaign. That's why British exceptionalism never stays "just a British issue". It quickly becomes Europe's problem.

    Domestic politics explains why Brexit happened. It doesn't erase the preceding decades of rebates, opt-outs, vetoes and exceptionalism that shaped how the UK was seen elsewhere in Europe. You know Britain from the inside. I'm talking about how Europe has learned to see Britain from the outside.

    Brexit didn't create Europe's populists. It created a permanent source of instability on the EU's doorstep & when Farage immediately turns every migration crisis into domestic political fuel, it's hardly surprising Europeans see British politics as part of the wider problem.
