    It really really really feels like we skew the results towards the desires of a few affluent households that are going to drive more and have the time to participate, rather than just do the project based off of objective research that moves us towards safer streets generally.

    What's especially ironic is that when we are doing the same project in the less affluent, more transit dependent neighborhoods of east West Seattle, SDOT chooses to have the open house entirely outside of the neighborhood where it would take place! Do only the more affluent households get a say?

    Maridee, who was killed on her bike in Fauntleroy, was a Vashon island resident that was passing through. Why do only those immediately inside of a neighborhood get a say on the creation (or not) of safer ways through it?

    Do my kids, who will both attend West Seattle High School five days a week and get there on foot/bike/via the bus, not deserve a say?

    Also, all of this outreach is solely in the immediate neighborhood. Many many people come from outside the neighborhood to use the parks, schools, grocery stores and restaurants in this area. I take my kids often to the playgrounds at Hiawatha and Lafayette. Where is the outreach for us?
