    The untagged gore/nsfw, the edgy/bigoted jokes, the focus on shock value, all of it was around during that time period. I saw similar attitudes in other fandoms. It's just that MLP FIM was such a cultural phenomenon that it was just easier to notice it there compared to other fanbases that

    This might be a hot take but imo the brony fandom gets too much of a bad rep. Now there was SOME good reason for that rep (All the pedophilia/grooming controversies for example) But a lot of the other controversies imo was the consequences of the fandom being around during the old internet

    i love mlp:fim but the brony fandom at its peak was..... well. you can absolutely tell it had its roots in 4chan lmfao it was especially bad for me bc i was still a teen at the time so i definitely stumbled across a lot of things that i shouldn't have bc bronies couldn't help themselves

    were more niche at the time (say FNAF for example) IDK as someone who was also teen at that time period and had a very different/positive experience, I feel like people are too quick to call it a "Brony" problem rather than an "old internet problem. Tho Bronies themselves are very much tied
