Cambridge University should have known better, Fleet Street should have known better, the people hungrily absorbing every bit of news about it, making newsrooms feel like they had to keep going with it as a story, should have known better, horrible horrible horrible

Your tier two ghouls used his plight to argue that people who disagree with them about anything from Brexit to the treatment of transgender people had somehow been humiliated or had their entire worldview challenged. Their circle jerk was gross but not really about Jason. It was pure bigotry. 2/2

It’s the glee that shames them. Whether driven by sadism, racism or both, the way so many people in the media revelled obscenely in the exposure of Jason Arday’s wrongdoing is hideous. It was utterly disproportionate & would have broken almost anyone. The guilty will, of course, learn nothing. 1/2

There is a difference between scrutiny and entertainment. Jason Arday’s career posed questions, but they shouldn’t have become obsessional. Journalism should seek truth, but not public humiliation.

I wish media outlets would describe Nathan Cofnas as a racist rather than a "self-defined race realist" which doesn't mean anything to most people. His writing meets any definition of racism however narrowly and cautiously drawn.
