unfortunately the LA mayor's office is vastly less powerful than the NYC one (one of the reasons Mamdani can just Do Things is that he has a lot of unilateral power that many other mayors do not) but this will still make an enormous difference

As I keep saying, this is no way to run the trains of a judicial system. But anyway, that's what happened, and I look forward to advocating in front of all these new judges at the same time as I recognize that there are folks who lost who did nothing wrong.

As I wake up, it is now clear that SCOTX has gone from 9-0 Republican to 5-4 Republican. The 15th Court of Appeals, a court created to channel appeals to a Republican court, is now 3 democrats. We have the first female chief justice in Texas history. It's as shocking as Hinojosa.

I really hope the ineffectiveness of the constant and ubiquitous transphobia gets seriously called into question going forward.
