    Of course it hasn’t been taxed, most of the wealth is just asset price inflation in the form of a property bubble.

    Probably. I think inheritance probably should be taxed more; but IHT as it stands is an absolute dog's dinner of a tax (along with most other UK taxes). Alternatively, a land value tax would help devalue more equitably those parental property pots people hope to win before care costs...
