It just......tonight could not have gone better. I don't think they were ready for it. I think they knew they might lose, but they were not prepared to lose this badly. By the time Greg Abbot lost, they weren't even mad, just sorta punch-drunk. There's not going to be a significant steal narrative

Dems are also expected, per the NYT, to win 7 seats Republicans were easily expected to hold. You put all of that together, and Dems end up in the 250s.

If you look just a bit, you see how wild this is. Dems are winning or leading in all but one of the most competitive races (and that’s the closest of all of those races). They’re also winning all the races they were expected narrowly to win — and 2/3 of the seats Rs were expected narrowly to win.
