    If the proposal was that those who profited from slavery (your Harewood's or Tate and Lyle's) for example, were the ones to pay reparations it would make far more sense than a nation doing it out of the taxes of those whose ancestors had nothing to do with slavery and lived in poverty themselves.

    She isn't wrong though (something I'm not sure I've ever said about her). Barring the descendents of Tate and Lyle, the Harwood family etc, none of us have any complicity in slavery. Most of us had ancestors living in grinding poverty exploited by the same system that underpinned slavery.
