So so much to say but I am thinking of Texas universities this morning.
Postu göster”In short, credits and offsets have been around for decades, there are a few very specific situations where they seem to be helpful", and ”promoting offsets and credits is both a failure of imagination and a failure to update based on new information". Good paper!
Postu gösterThere's evidence that the climate transition started around 1300. The first half of the 14th Century does seem a perfect storm of climate and disease (human and animal) pressures. Although I take the point that much of European biodiversity co-evolved with farming systems so would be linked.
Postu gösterAlso, I think, because esp in the Americas, European contact is seen as largely harmful to conservation (which, agree). But the fact that this story comes out of Europe helps relate this more to your prior point about the scale of human disturbance and management in relation to the local ecosystem.
