  It's tempting to ascribe more meaning to the production of synthetic text, to find exotic rationalizations for why a mirage is real. The bending of light is real, but the mirage tells us nothing about water. The effect of synthetic text on people is real; the object of study is people, not the LLM.

  I'm not convinced that half the podcasts already advertising on my feed aren't LLM-generated. Horribly formulaic, identical rhythms, super-clean production, interchangeable content.
