    Since the birth of industrialization, rural areas have suffered, and urban areas have swelled. But liberalism is inherently pro industry in a capitalist oriented way, so is incapable of thinking in ways that benefit rural workers. So are conservatives but they're quite comfortable wrapping in lies.

    The riots in France began with movements off in far-flung colonies, then spread to cities in the core. This is a common pattern, and was much the same during the Great Depression years in the US. But liberals gobbled up that space, abandoned them, and left them open to a right wing cultural sweep.

    Rural = Conservative is a relatively new thing, and specific to the US and Canada. For most of modern history rural areas were where radical leftist movements were born. Canada's NDP and universal healthcare began in the prairies. I live in a small town of 3,000 where a mass union movement was born

    Yeah, like, a fifth of the entire population having to migrate away in a very short timespan was devastating. Lost most of my childhood friends in the span of like one year.
