Postu gösterThe Government's strengthening proposal should address not only Healthwatch's powers and staffing, but also how its independence is protected when the organisation paying for scrutiny is itself being scrutinised.
Postu gösterRetaining Healthwatch is only the first step. Strengthening it requires skilled, well-paid staff, secure funding, independence and real powers to challenge NHS and council decisions. Success must be measured by changes to care, not simply number of reports produced or people consulted.
