UPDATE! Those of you who predicted Valve would pull a "Good Guy Valve" move were correct: despite having no obligation to do so (and they did get mad at me for using a delivery service, despite having no choice to), they rather quickly issued a full refund for the Steam Frame's purchase price. 💙💙

It's bittersweet, of course, because I was quite excited to play with the Frame, and I definitely lost my spot in line because of all this mess. I'll stick with my existing stuff for a while. But I'm not winding up paying for a Frame I never actually got, and I am very grateful for that. :)

Since I'm not in the red anymore, the loss claim with Fetch goes away too (even though it *really* should've been them who paid, not Valve), but the police report is still on the books. I never recovered the Frame itself, and from what it looks like on eBay, it sold for some outlandish price. 😢

I don't love all of the features especially face age + shape adjustment but in general it seems like they're image pattern recognition and adjustment which seems Less Bad than full fake footage generation. Motion blur reduction especially seems potentially good and not really what I would call AI
