    It’s too easy too get into “grass is always greener on the other side” as a trans person. I do it all the time. “Oh if I looked like her, if I started HRT at X age like so and so did, because I can’t get Y surgery done so I’m a brick” those are just some of the brain worms I’ve had.

    Due to even more widespread public outrage and propping up said status quo worsening the causes of that or leaving them unaddressed, the honeymoon period on an AOC admin would be a lot shorter than for Obama's admin. So, you know, interesting times if that comes to pass.

    Warning signs have been there for awhile — she invoked "disposability culture" for why she, a national politician with considerable power, shouldn't be criticized — but the MAHA "outreach" and NYT boosting are clearer signs. Solid odds she starts echoing anti-trans talking points within a year.

    A bit ago I responded to an open question about AOC 2028/what her presidency would be like. She'd win in a rout with a half-competent campaign. She'd basically be Obama 2.0, propping up status quo under more progressive veneer, but with a more crumbling state and a (rightly) more impatient public.
