  The part that stays with us: a stop order only works if the agent cannot route around it. So the off switch, spend limits and tool permissions have to sit outside the agent, in the layer its calls pass through. Not in the prompt, where it is only a request.

  Context engineering is not prompt engineering. Prompts are a request. Context is the state an agent reasons over, and if you cannot verify where it came from, you are trusting a story. Bind memory to a chain, not a vibe. Paper I, sec 12. #AgentMemory

  Before you let an AI agent post entries, move payments or decline an applicant, set three controls first: a boundary, an audit trail and a kill switch you've tested. Examiners are now asking banks if they can track and shut agents down. Where to let it act, and where to stop.

  The catch I hit with my own agent: the person with the result in front of them can be fooled too, because a strong model reads a stale instruction, routes around it and still delivers. So the human in the loop has to read the instructions now and then, not only judge the output.

  That is the case that keeps it hard: a reading that was right on Monday and wrong by Thursday, with nothing marking the change. A date and the facts it rested on would at least show when to doubt it. What did the last stale reading cost you?
