    Also, the "critics vs. audiences" mentality is horseshit. Critics ARE audiences. Specifically, we're the audience members who love movies so much we watch every film can find, speak articulately about them, and share our passion with people who otherwise wouldn't even hear about most films.

    was trying to explain pronoun stuff to an out of the loop guy recently and I was like "you should us they/them if you don't know someone's gender but also maybe you should assume people's genders sometimes because some trans people like that" and I could smell the fuses in his brain short circuiting
