    Stede leaves the kitchen to find where Izzy has hidden himself, sneaking peeks to see if his once first mate, and somehow still second in command has noticed the aroma yet... He's sure Izzy saw him this time, caught him glancing in Stede's direction with a silent half-smirk that betrayed nothing.

    He brings back wrapped blocks of butter and cheese, bundles of vegetables and bags of fruit, loaves of bread still crisp on the outside, and rich duck eggs, green on the outside and golden in the middle. Fatty, silky textures to carry precious flavours from all around the world.

    The chevre, rich and dark, goes into a casserole with root vegetables and herbs, to braise until tender. Ah, but the pork, that will be roasted crisp, the fat beneath so soft it melts on the tongue. With a tart lemon sauce and white wine for balance. Stede wonders if Izzy has ever had white wine.
