Among other things, the chances of any kind of authoritarian takeover at this point - a second January 6th or what have you - seem pretty dramatically reduced in the wake of such a clear electoral verdict. You really can sometimes just vote these guys to go to hell.
Postu gösterThat may mean state constitutional amendments, ideally in 2029 it means a federal gerrymandering ban of some sort, it probably means moving forward the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact. We need a political system where *both* major parties are trying to get over 50%, not 48% plus gimmicks.
Postu gösterAs an aside, I think this makes gerrymandering reform and electoral reform the top priorities for the places where the Dems have swept into power. The GOP will win elections again some day and you have to close the door as much as possible to the MAGA model of gerrymander-powered minoritarian rule.
