    if you don’t live in Hakeem Jeffries’ district, don’t call his office, they literally don’t care unless you’re a constituent. instead call your representative-elect’s office and put pressure on them to back a better speaker

    Since the issue is being discussed, who's your preferred Speaker of the House? It seems pretty clear that Hakeem Jeffries does not have popular support. But who does? The biggest issue is not to pull anybody out of a committee chair where they are going to do some damage so no Raskin or Garcia.

    But who actually has the leadership juice, the ability to talk to the media and directly to the public with gravitas and passion, and a clear vision of where we are and where we need to go? Personally, I would have no problem with Speaker Ocasio-Cortez, and I think she might be angling for it.

    this doesn't feel like 2008 (to me) bc in 2008 we were all so full of hope with eyes wide open for the future, and i have too much anger for that now. but this does feel like catharsis, like a result we were owed but were never confident we would get.
