The stalkove is amazing! I had nothing to do with it! First thing I knew about it, was when I saw this dope ass art. To me, this is the system working. We invented Equinox and the adventure that takes you there, and then other people played in that sandbox and this is the result.
Postu gösterI've got thoughts about it, but it's still a bit fuzzy and it could just be that this style annoys me in audiobook format. But there does seem to be differences between the two.
Postu gösterIt's also the absurdity of it all, goblin and one-eye at each other's throats to lighten the mood just before an attack, a series of retreats, the higher ups playing games you can just about see and don't like the look of. The understanding that honor is all well and good when you can afford it.
Postu gösterCW/TW (cont): torture The forward is quite interesting and helped solidify some of the differences between grimdark and man fantasy. Namely in discussing how cook's experience in the Vietnam war shaped the books. I.e. everyman heroes knee-deep in mud and a moral morass.
Postu göster🪐📚 I think I might've read the first couple of these before? I recognize the collection of the first 3 books at least. Classic grimdark and a departure from the traditional bright fantasy of Tolkien. CW/TW: violence, death, mentions of sexual assault and assault of a minor (not graphic)
