New preprint from the lab, SUPER excited about this one. We identify "A domain-general basal ganglia mechanism for inhibitory control during language comprehension" via intracranial recordings, neural decoding, and deep-brain stimulation in humans. Today's SFF story: Archaeological Evidence for the Time Traveler by @tiatashiro.bsky.social. I thought I knew where this was going. Then I gasped and briefly started hyperventilating on my lunch break when I got to the part where... well, you know. clarkesworldmagazine.com/tashiro_05_26/

Total brain volume (TBV) is associated with brain signals. The first time I saw this was on Andrew Quinn's poster some years ago. Here, I plotted data from the LEMON dataset (202 participants). TBV was residualized on age and gender. So, add TBV as a covariate whenever possible. #brainmovies

Excited to share our new work using 7T laminar fMRI to show that memory-based and surround-based pattern completion have distinct cortical-depth profiles in human V1: deeper layers for memory, superficial layers for surround context. BioRxiv online: www.biorxiv.org/content/10.6...
