    i don't really read enough romance novels to know if this is a niche that's being filled. i know there's femdom out there but the only stuff I've heard of is still in a patriarchal society.

    also i do think it would be very funny to swap historical upperclass norms of femininity and masculinity, such that a woman acting traditionally feminine and a man acting traditionally masculine would each look gay.

    you get a taste of it in m/m alpha/omega, but when the alpha is male it's just not all that different from real life because I'm identifying with the male omega and thus I'm still experiencing the same baggage about liking men I already grew up saturated in.

    i guess also i just really like the idea of watching men wonder whether or not women like them the same way women in our world wonder if men like them. like, with the same (or at least similar) social baggage. navigating the social imbalance inherent in heterosexual romance, but in reverse.

    i think it would be very funny to do a traditional romance novel with a slightly-too-muscular country gentlewoman's son navigating a bunch of scheming bitchy upper class men vying for the landed heiresses who hang out at magic dueling clubs and cool off by swimming in ponds in white poet shirts.
