Utterly incredible that this story isn't being hammered on every news update until we realise how wide open we have been and still are

Trauma can teach us to deny our real emotions by misnaming them. For years, I thought I was "jealous" of other folks' loving parents. What I actually felt was grief, the pain of never having. But trauma taught me to shame myself for needing the very things I was denied: care & protection. #cptsd

A major recovery challenge is forgiving ourselves for what we didn't know back then. Or not doing what we couldn’t do. Those memories will trigger a dump truck of shame & it'll all feel justified. Of course, it's all BS, trauma's deception. Forgive your past self, that kid deserves it. ❤️‍🩹 #cptsd

The people you imagine judging you may or may not be really out there judging you right now. Realistic trauma recovery is going to ask you to let them judge whatever they feel it necessary to judge. They're gonna do it anyway. Keep bringing your focus back, here, now.

There'll be people who think your emotional injuries are stupid, & your conditioned behaviors are "choices" that reveal your "character." Understand: those people know exactly jack & sh*t about how humans function, & are just getting off to fantasies of their own invulnerability.
