youtu.be/joosKZ3HygE?... @jtroscianko.bsky.social Has edited together this video of us explaining our butterfly research. I must admit I didn't quite realise how under the weather I was at the time. So forgive my slightly zombified appearance!
Postu gösterYes, I definitely used lights. While the green cloud is just reflecting my lights, the blue/whiteish squiggly is indeed bioluminescent for about 10 seconds after being released by the worm, but can only be seen in complete darkness, so everything that shown in the video is reflected light
Postu gösterI’ve seen it >100 times, but I’ve never been about to capture it until now. Presumably, it is spawning (but I can’t be positive). But what is the green cloud, and what is the smaller blue squiggly??? #blackwater, #blackwaterdiving #polychaete
Postu gösterIs this filmed with external lighting? The neon green of the cloud makes me think it could be fluorescent and maybe bioluminescent in the dark?
Postu gösterHappy to share the final version of our study on the evolution of chromatin states across eukaryotes, out today in @natgenet.nature.com Led by @crisnava.bsky.social and @seanamontgomery.bsky.social www.nature.com/articles/s41... Some highlights below
