    ?🤔 FDR is my favorite president, but he was a liberal, not a democratic socialist. He believed in capitalism. His policies were intended to rein in capitalism's excesses & cycles, and regulate it. He wanted to rebuild Americans' faith in the capitalist system after the 1929 crash & Great Depression.

    I lived through the Great Depression and my parents never looked at FDR as a socialist but more like a savior who used the government to have programs to turn things around. FDR was more of a pragmatist who believed government and capitalism can work together for the good of the country.

    I don't know that FDR was a democratic socialist, but I don't see anything proposed by Mamdani that is outside something that a New Deal Democrat might propose.
