    I see those redditors saying things about how there are good objections to sperm and eggs. That would be (very) big if true, and I wish they would pony up those objections with citations.

    Oh, I think the worry is that male and female (organisms) are defined in terms of male or female gametes, and but "male" and "female" are left undefined when it comes to gametes. Buuuut, the account defines male and female organisms in terms of sperm and eggs. So, no need to worry.

    Yes, that sounds right. It sounds like it could happen, due to malfunction or a bad environment, that an activated function is not realized. And maaaaaybe it could also happen that a function is realized, without being activated? Like if I manually force a mousetrap shut?
