My brain is buzzing with ideas after an amazing #MDRS2026 . I have ~5 neurons left that are fighting for their lives, but that’s a worthy price to pay for such inspirational science and to see friends old and new. Huge thank you to the organizers for putting on a fantastic conference! 🧠

I'm recruiting PhD students this cycle! We study how the brain perceives, remembers, and predicts naturalistic experiences like movies and games, using computational tools to analyze behavioral and neural data 🧠 App deadline is 12/2/26 - see our lab pubs on our website www.dpmlab.org/pubs.html

JEP General finally published our paper about impressive recognition asymmetries. Ingredients: true and false "memorability" cooked with a good amount of signal-detection theory psycnet.apa.org/record/2028-... It was wonderful to collaborate w/ Nick Chiang and Wilma Bainbridge to make this happen

New paper w/ @edvogel.bsky.social & Wilma Bainbridge: we showed that aphantasic participants, who lack mental imagery, had lower visual working memory performance for simple colors & complex fractals (Exp 1), & visually presented words/pseudowords (Exp 2). www.sciencedirect.com/science/arti...

After 3 years working with the great Wilma Bainbridge at UChicago, I’m thrilled to be heading home to Canada for a new chapter at the Rotman School of Management in Toronto! I’ll be bringing memorability into marketing, showing how brands can optimize their assets for cognition.
