    I've been (very slowly) converting for like six years now and, in that time, I have never been made to feel like I was not accepted and welcomed home even though I haven't met with the beit din and gone to the mikveh yet (mostly due to logistics - no mikveh here that I can use).

    It is telling that they find it hard to conceive of a word that refers to a member of an outgroup that isn't also a slur. It's similar to reaction some people have to "cis", actually.

    Most US Jews have spent most of our lives surrounded by non-Jews. It’s mostly not an issue (besides the standard kvetches, minus the uptick in fascism). But antisemites are *never* over the fact that they might not be in-group in every context, & it only fuels their rage—& their victim narrative.

    So much this. “Not everything is for everyone” is not a slur, like. … if you *want* to become a Jew truly truly there’s a process for that. (If you want to transition gender, well, ditto) But to not be centered & have it not mean you’re *lower than* breaks their hierarchical worldview entirely
