    It's interesting how the tech press hasn't asked and directly addressed the question of why OpenAI et al are doing things like "proving math theorems" rather than "speeding up solving cancer" because I don't think anyone would be mad if an LLM somehow did that and made the answer available for free

    I really like how Jill Jacobs describes her positions on all this stuff. I heard her on a panel 1-2 years ago with three other (very broadly speaking) “liberal Zionists,” and every time she said something, I thought, “that’s exactly what I think, and she put it better!”

    That is precisely my point though. Because the way to understand the problem here is not about their activism vis a vis Israel, it’s about the red lines they are willing (and unwilling) to draw with respect to the coalitions they are willing to be a part of in the diaspora
