We also got an assist from a UGACBIO collaborator, Karl, who has helped with imaging planarian cilia! Check out our preprint on this topic here: doi.org/10.64898/202... Congrats Pierce and Kendall!
Postu gösterWe also submitted a preprint on the undergraduate work of R-G lab student Pierce, who worked with @kendallbclay.bsky.social during his time in the lab. Several of our undergrads have been working to identify bona fide synapse components in planarians, so Pierce was part of this effort. (1/4)
Postu gösterYou can check out the preprint on this excellent work by a fantastic scholar here: doi.org/10.64898/202... So proud of Christina, Jen, and Andres for this excellent work! (4/4)
Postu gösterShe then screened the known neuropeptide-encoding genes in planarians, finding that over a dozen promote regeneration robustness. Our data indicate that some of these neuropeptides work through stem cells and others play distinct and non-stem cell-driven roles. (3/4)
Postu gösterShe first investigated neuropeptide processing enzymes in the planarians, showing that they are indispensible for regeneration and that they promote stem cell maintenance. Former grad student Jennifer Jenkins and former undergrad Andres Villalobos also contributed to this project. (2/4)
