Postu gösterChannelization is also a factor, as are some of the higher elevation burn scars. Kind of the worst confluence of factors really. The bottom line is really that in the desert southwest, 4+ inches of consistent rain over an upper watershed leads to 15+ foot walls of water.
Postu gösterDifferent topography and soil factors make a world of difference for hydrology! This is something closer to flash flood alley (thin topsoil over limestone) than an east coast flood situation. Plus the effects of dry clime and persistent drought on what little soil there is limiting absorption.
