When I saw this, I wondered: are any of the Soviets who altered the photos in the 50s, 60s and 70s still around? And do they look at the photo editing tools everyone has and just shake their heads and smile. "If you kids only knew the trouble we went to!"

This is a good illustration of how so much of AI theft isn't indirect (ie, data sucked into a model to train the chatbot) - it's actually **direct** copying, but *enabled* by GenAI. Of course it is: chatbots absolutely suck at creating good, new stuff.

I appreciate that people want a new Mass Effect, but the future where fans advocate for the work itself and not the people who make it is the one the vultures at EA want. If you'll take it however you get it, they can keep treating people who make what you love as expendable.
