    1969-1970 - Gulf + Western Industries purchases the majority of the stock of Sega Enterprises Ltd. over two years. Sega becomes a subsidiary of the conglomerate Engulf and Devour, which consequently also owns Paramount Pictures.

    With David Rosen's death, bad information about Sega as a company is starting to re-emerge across the internet. I will try to give a very condensed version of the Sega corporate shenanigans here as to clear some of the air. 🧵

    1965 - Nihon Goraku Bussan absorbs Rosen Enterprises and renames itself Sega Enterprises Ltd. This is the symbolic birth of the modern Sega. It wasn't a new company, just with David Rosen now directing its operations the direction of it would radically change.

    1964 - Nippon Goraku Bussan merges into Nippon Kikai Seizo. A single Japanese company takes over what has for a long while already been known as "Sega" due to their brand of slot machine. This precipitates a much more consequential merger.
