    Meta's bet: the open-source LLMs are like the open system of Microsoft in the 80s, while proprietary LLMs like ChatGPT are like Mac in the 80s. Key question: how valuable are complementor-users like academia, who need published weights like in Llama and will buy Nvidia GPUs? My (biased) sense: very.
