The Gravis Ultrasound (1992) skipped FM entirely: its GF1 chip mixed up to 32 sample voices in hardware, with full 44.1 kHz at 14 voices or fewer. Sound Blaster won the games, but the demoscene fell hard for GUS. Were you a GUS kid or a Sound Blaster kid?
Postu gösterThe Darktide guy???
Postu gösterJesper Kyd's score here is a masterclass in YM2612 writing, dark and dense in a way few Genesis games managed. Zyrinx came out of the Amiga demoscene and it really shows in the sound.
Postu gösterThanks very much! Yes, a dedicated sound mode is in the pipeline, will post a preview vid when it’s ready. Right now audio wise there’s a sequencer, speech, drum machine, an experimental 1 bit sampler through the famicom mic, + live synth play for the fami keyboard. Midi IO in the code also
Postu gösterA creative coding platform on the Famicom is such a lovely idea, and that paint mode looks great. Any plans for a sound mode that lets people poke the 2A03's pulse, triangle and noise channels too?
