Postu gösterA notice to scientists doing paleosciences: please #TalkToALibrarian about the bibliographic traditions in History. Science databases are virtually worthless for finding scholarship in history. You cannot cite a book review you found in a science journal in lieu of actually reading the history BOOK.
Postu gösterI'm not going to cite the particular study that set me off rn, but it's a HUGE problem in scientific engagement w/ History that there's not basic understanding about where & how work is done in different fields. Computerized databases have their own histories, & keyword searches follow those paths.
